Massive botnet ‘indestructible,’ say researchers

A new and improved botnet that has infected more than four million PCs is “practically indestructible,” security researchers say.

“TDL-4,” the name for both the bot Trojan that infects machines and the ensuing collection of compromised computers, is “the most sophisticated threat today,” said Kaspersky Labs researcher Sergey Golovanov in a detailed analysis Monday.

“[TDL-4] is practically indestructible,” Golovanov said.

Microsoft unveils redesigned WindowsEmbedded.com


Microsoft has just taken the wrapping paper off of one of its newest websites, www.windowsembedded.com. The new site was launched today at 10AM PST and is a new effort to help those who use the software and systems.

The new website is supposed to help optimize the experience of looking for resources. It has been given greater visibility to search engines, 4x as much content as before and site now offers something for all Windows Embedded groups.

How to Fix Contacts Always Appear Offline on Windows Live Messenger 11 (WLM11)

Recently, a nasty bug is affecting Windows Live Messenger 11. Basically, after logging in WLM 11, all contacts will appear offline. Users trying to log out and log back in won’t solve the issue and all contacts will continue to be shows as offline. At the moment the cause is unknown but rumors on the Internet ascribe the issue to corrupted Windows Live Messenger files.
